3 Easy Ways to Strengthen your Social Media Presence

We’re all on social media everyday or almost everyday, so we might as well learn how to use it effectively! Here are three simple ways to up your game on platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

1. Keep Up with Trends.

This is especially true on Twitter! I try to check my feed every morning to see the news, read through the funny trends that are viral right now, and think about possible ways to incorporate those things into my tweets. If an article or post impacts me, I try to either comment on the post or retweet it to show that I’m staying active on the site.

2. Diversify your Content Across Platforms

Having the exact same pictures with the exact same captions on each social media is pretty easy to do when your accounts are linked, but I would recommend staying away from that. There’s definitely a way to talk about the same things on all platforms in a more specific and curated way. For example, I could post a cute picture on Instagram with a fun and informative caption while on Twitter the caption is purely funny. On Facebook, I would post a series of photos from that event with a more detailed caption.

3. Take Quality Photos

Quality photos are no longer just ones shot on a DSLR, though you definitely should make use of that if you have access to one! Most smartphones today are fully capable of capturing social media worthy content. An easy way to elevate your pictures is by editing them using one of the many free apps available out there. My favorites include VSCO and Lightroom but you can play around with all of the ones out there until you find one that you like and works for your preferred editing style and aesthetic. If you aren’t sure how to use these apps, search for resources online! There are many videos and articles explaining these programs in more detail.

At the end of the day, social media is just a highlight reel so don’t get too caught up in social media strategy. However, hopefully these tips helped you in creating and curating your online presence!
