Joe Deye is a second-year Master of Arts student in Communication. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2016, having majored in Communication and minored both in Marketing and in Political Science. He is also the recipient of the University of Cincinnati’s 2017 Excellence in Teaching Award, Master’s Category.
He is the director of the USpeak program for UCommunicate and does work with the Marketing Team. He has taught Public Speaking; has been a Teaching Assistant for Leadership Communication, Rhetorical Theory, and Argument; and currently teaches Business Communication at UC. His research interests include organizational communication, leadership communication, and rhetorical theory.
Professionally, Joe’s work has included time as a consultant for Cengage, as a tour guide for Queen City History, and as a communication intern for the Cincinnati AFL-CIO. He has also done several applied research projects, including: developing a hypothetical brand extension for Hilton; developing a business and marketing plan with US and Canadian students for a social entrepreneurship business; researching student perceptions on crime and safety in the Clifton and UC Campus areas; and exploring how the teacher-student relationship affects class performance. He has also done pro bono work as a speech consultant for TEDxCincinnati.
