Joe Deye is a second-year Master of Arts student in communication. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2016, having majored in communication and minored in marketing and in political science.
He is the director of the USpeak program for UCommunicate and does work with the marketing and sales team. He has taught Public Speaking; been a teaching assistant for Leadership Communication, Rhetorical Theory and Argument; and currently teaches Business Communication at UC. His research interests include: organizational communication, leadership communication and rhetorical theory.
Professionally, Joe’s work has included time as a student consultant for Cengage, as a summer tour guide for Queen City History, and as a communication intern for a Cincinnati political group. He has also done several applied research projects through classes at UC. These projects include: developing a hypothetical brand extension for Hilton; developing a business and marketing plan with U.S. and Canadian students for a social entrepreneurship product; researching student perceptions on crime and safety in the Clifton and UC campus areas; and exploring how the teacher-student relationship affects class performance.
Personally, Joe enjoys going out with friends, trying new restaurants, learning new things and attending live performances. He hopes to pursue a job in the branding, marketing, market research, or consulting fields upon graduation in the spring of 2018.
