Tips to Promote Your Organization on Social Media
In the past decade or so, the use of social media has skyrocketed, providing organizations with a unique outlet for communication. Using social media to promote your organization is an affordable, yet strategic way to build awareness and relationships. These tips will help you effectively promote your organization on social media.
Show your brand
It is important that every social media account directly affiliated with your organization is branded. Not only will this help followers recognize you, but it will also help you show your organization’s personality. Your social media posts should inform followers of what you do as an organization. In addition, this is where you can create some branded hashtags that will help set you apart from other organizations.
Visuals can include pictures, graphics, videos, GIFs, and boomerangs. Of course, Instagram is a social media outlet specifically for sharing visuals, however, also using visuals on Twitter and Facebook will help keep your followers interested. Be sure to use a variety of visuals and include some branded graphics. Don’t be afraid to get creative!
Get members involved
Getting team members involved with the organization’s social media means featuring them in the organization’s posts and encouraging them to interact with the accounts. Posting about the team members and their accomplishments is a great way to showcase who you are as an organization. You should also encourage all team members to follow and interact with your organization’s social media accounts. Overall, getting team members involved will help create positive word of mouth and promote your organization.
Your organization’s website should be linked to all affiliated social media accounts so users can easily find it. Providing a link to a post can help drive traffic to your website or a different account you are hoping to gain interaction on. Basically, having a link to a post provides a “next step” for followers so they can learn more if they are interested. This simple trick can really help build interaction.
Post and engage regularly
Posting and engaging come hand in hand if you want to successfully promote your organization on social media. Posting content regularly will help keep followers interested in your organization. With that, you should be engaging with your followers to build relationships and to hopefully have them engage back with you. Consider thanking people for following you, retweeting their tweets, liking their pictures, etc. With regular posting and engagement, more people will hear about your organization.
While social media is an opportunity to get creative, it is important to remember to be strategic. Keeping these tips in mind will help you effectively promote your organization on social media.
